Pickleball Fun This Saturday at Tasker Park – All Welcome!

Southold Historical Museum’s History in the Making Pickleball Tournament takes place this Saturday, May 30, at Tasker Park—and spectators are encouraged to come enjoy the action.

Watch friendly competition unfold across two tournament sessions, and take part in a day of community fun featuring raffle prizes and great energy on the courts.

This event supports the mission of Southold Historical Museum, and we’re grateful to all the players who signed up.

Schedule:

• Round Robin Tournament: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

• Team Tournament: 12:30 PM – 3:00 PM

Explore the North Fork Revolutionary War Trail

Discover the North Fork’s Revolutionary War story through a special collaboration among local museums and history organizations. Visit participating sites to explore exhibits, artifacts, and stories that bring the region’s Revolutionary past to life.

Southold Historical Museum is proud to feature two exhibits through Sept. 13:

• The American Revolution in Southold — Maple Lane Campus, weekends 1–4 p.m.

• Maritime Stealth in Southold During the American Revolution — Nautical Museum at Horton Point Lighthouse, weekends 11:30 a.m.–4 p.m.

Follow the trail and experience the people, places, and events that shaped the North Fork 250 years ago. Discover the connection between Southold’s Jared Landon and Cutchogue’s Parker Wickham, among other interesting stories.

Play the “Rebels and Redcoats” Long Island History Hunt!

The 2026 Long Island History Hunt is already off to a strong start, with more than 100 selfies uploaded in the first few days and participants visiting sites across Long Island. The challenge has also been featured on Channel 7, News 12, Newsday’s Funbook, Discover Long Island’s podcast, and other local outlets.

Now it’s your turn to join the adventure!

Southold Historical Museum is proud to be one of 26 stops in this region-wide Revolutionary War challenge running through Sept. 30. Visit the Maple Lane Campus, learn about Jared Landon’s role during British occupation, snap a selfie by the red museum sign, and upload it to take part.

Collect free Revolutionary-themed trading cards, explore historic sites, and compete for prizes—including a $1,776 grand prize.

Call for Artists: Online Exhibit & Sale

Southold Historical Museum invites artists to submit work for our Ten Squared online exhibit and sale this summer. The theme, Celebrate America — North Fork Legacy in the Spirit of 1776. Artists can explore what this year’s 250th anniversary of the United States represents to them, highlighting the North Fork’s historical and cultural contributions to the nation’s founding and continued evolution.

This non-juried show accepts up to three 10” x 10” pieces per artist. Each work will be sold for $100, with 50% going to the artist and 50% supporting the Museum.

Deadline: Finished works and submission forms are due between Monday, June 15 and Friday, June 19, 2026, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm with accompanying artwork submission form.

2026 Paid Student Internships –Deadline Today, May 29

Southold Historical Museum is accepting applications for two paid student internships: the Bainbridge Internship and the Gardiner Young Scholar Program.

These hands-on programs offer high school students a behind-the-scenes look at museum work—from caring for local history collections to helping develop programs for the community. Interns build practical skills while working with staff and volunteers.

Each position includes a $1,700 stipend for 100 hours.

Open to students entering grade 10 and up (Bainbridge applicants must live in Southold Town). One application covers both programs.

Applications are due May 29, 2026. Selections will be announced by the end of June.

America’s 250th anniversary is being celebrated this year, and we’re excited to be part of the festivities. This summer, explore special exhibits and events highlighting Southold’s role in the Revolutionary era.

We’re proud to participate in Suffolk County’s 250th Anniversary Passport Book initiative and the Robert David Lion Gardiner Foundation Long Island History Hunt to help commemorate this significant moment in our nation’s history.
