No longer a tumbling toddler taking its first steps, The Church is up and running and turning four! Join us for the birthday festivities as we welcome you to a weekend full of books, exploration, learning, and more. A full rundown of events and ticketing information is below:

Come peruse our selection of goods downstairs in our studio space. Art Books, and Catalogues, like the newly printed Strike Fast Dance Lightly: Artists on Boxing and the much-loved Yes, No, and WOW: The Push Pin Studios Revolution will be on sale. 

Have books you want to donate? Stop by our Book Swap table and make a trade – leave a book and take a book. The book swap will allow art lovers to bring their titles, exchange them with others. Remainders will be donated.

The recurring community-driven poetry read-in returns for the next verse! The Church is excited to invite you to join us for the third iteration Verse 3: I’m with the Banned, exploring poems and voices who have encountered resistance and censorship of expression. APRIL’S FOOL: April Gornik Discusses “Figures du Fou”
General Ticket: $10 / Members: $5

Join co-founder April Gornik for a richly illustrated virtual walk-through of the “Figures du Fou” (Figures of the Fool) exhibition that was on view at the Louvre Museum October 16, 2024 – February 5, 2025. Diving deep into the multiple meanings and history of “the fool,” April will explore the many meanings and context of fools. From sinners and saints to royal and common, the fool is everywhere – including in artists. For more information and to reserve tickets click here.

Stick around and join us as we sing “Happy Birthday,” kicking off The Church’s fourth twirl around the sun with celebration and community. Join Jaime Lopez and Coco Myers for advanced sales and signing of their book Light, Sand, and Sea: Hamptons Artists and Their Studios.  As well, our own Eric Fischl, as well as Robert Lipsyte will be on hand to sign copies of our latest publication, Strike Fast Dance Lightly: Artists on Boxing and April Gornik will be available to sign Yes, No, and WOW: The Push Pin Studios Revolution, both of which will be available for purchase.

The Church was established in 2019 by artists Eric Fischl and April Gornik. Housed in a deconsecrated 19th-century church, its doors were opened in April 2021. Our mission is to foster creativity and to honor the living history of Sag Harbor as a maker village. The East End represents an exceptional artistic legacy, spanning the practices of indigenous art of several centuries ago, Abstract Expressionists of the mid-20th Century, and the many celebrated writers, makers, musicians, and visual artists of the recent past and current moment. Core programming includes visual art exhibitions, concerts and events, educational programming, workshops, lectures, and an artist’s residency.
