The Gateway Announces

2026 Summer Children’s Theatre Series and Youth Performance Opportunities

—————————————

Bellport, NY — The Gateway Playhouse is thrilled to announce its 2026 Summer Children’s Theatre Series, featuring an exciting lineup of family-friendly entertainment including The Wizard of Oz Youth Edition (July 3 – 18), Jeff Boyer’s Big Bubble Bonanza (August 15 & 16), and Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella Youth Edition (August 21 – 30). Performances will take place on select Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, with showtimes varying between morning and afternoon performances depending on the day.

The Wizard of Oz Youth Edition follows Dorothy and her loyal dog Toto down the Yellow Brick Road on a magical adventure through the Land of Oz. Along the way, they encounter witches, Munchkins, talking trees, and winged monkeys while making unforgettable friends: a brain-seeking Scarecrow, a heart-searching Tin Man, and a not-so-brave Lion. Together, they journey toward the Emerald City, discovering courage, friendship, and the true meaning of home.

Jeff Boyer’s Big Bubble Bonanza, the only show in the series not produced by The Gateway and The Gateway School for the Performing Arts, is a one-man bubble extravaganza combining comedy, music, and interactive bubble magic. From bubble volcanoes and bubble roller coasters to fog-filled bubbles and giant bubbles large enough to fit a child inside, Jeff Boyer captivates audiences of all ages with a wildly imaginative performance experience.

Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella Youth Edition invites audiences into a magical fairy tale world filled with charm, elegance, humor, and heart. Featuring the beloved Rodgers & Hammerstein score, this enchanting production brings the timeless story to life with sparkle, laughter, and unforgettable theatrical magic for audiences of all ages.

The Wizard of Oz Youth Edition and Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella Youth Edition are produced in partnership with The Gateway School for the Performing Arts, the educational branch of the renowned nonprofit theater entering its 77th season of live professional theater. The school offers year-round training in acting, musical theatre, and production, taught by industry professionals with a strong emphasis on performance opportunities through production and conservatory programs.

During the school year, classes are level-specific and may require auditions or prerequisites. Summer programming is designed as camp-style mini intensives, meeting four days a week for several hours each day, making it the perfect opportunity for students to explore theatre in a welcoming and engaging environment.

The Conservatory Classes, The Gateway’s MainStage Summer Youth Productions, are audition-based, fully produced children’s theatre experiences performed for live, paying audiences. Students work alongside professional theater staff and gain invaluable hands-on experience mounting full-scale productions.

Enrollment for Summer 2026 classes is now underway, offering exciting opportunities for students of all ages and experience levels. Students can expect a summer filled with creativity, growth, collaboration, and performance. Multi-class discounts, flexible payment plan, and Scholarship options are available to help make participation accessible for all families. New students can also receive 50% off their first class by calling 631-286-0555 ext. 5000.
