Jupiter Hammon Project Launch

Preservation Long Island is pleased to announce the launch of The Jupiter Hammon Project, a major initiative aimed at developing a new interpretive direction for the 18th-century Joseph Lloyd Manor that encourages responsible, rigorous, and relevant encounters with the story of Jupiter Hammon, the first published African American writer, and Long Island’s history of enslavement and its impact on society today.
