Author Mary Cummings was born and raised in Southampton. She has been associate editor at the Southampton Press, and, as a freelance writer, a contributor to The New York Times Long Island Weekly and many other publications. She is currently the manager of the Archives and Research Center at The Southampton Historical Museum
