As our Society temporarily becomes “Museums Without Walls”, we would like to invite our friends to experience history in new ways. We invite you and your friends to Follow us on Instagram and LIKE us on Facebook to experience East Hampton, our museums, and stories.

Mondays: FROM OUR COLLECTION, we will share photos and postcards from our vast collection of the East End.

Tuesdays: Look out for experience sharing.

On social media we will share links and lead you to videos about East Hampton history.

Wednesdays: We will ask you, our friends to share on social media your thoughts, images, and memories as related to this period in East Hampton History, the “Time of Social Distancing.” (Either when you are on your walks or from your window), there will be wonderful sights to share!

Thursdays: THURSDAY THOUGHTS, each week we will focus upon one of our museums, tune in…you’ll get the idea.

Fridays: FRIDAY FUNNIES, Hysterical, we mean Historical Memes for a laugh.

We Need Your Help

During this time in our history, East Hampton like the rest of the world is experiencing something unprecedented.

————–

As YOUR historical society, its our responsibility to collect and tell the stories of East Hampton town; and this is just one of its chapters. When the 1918 flu hit, we were able to document it through letters in our collection.

Now in this age of Facebook and Instagram, we need to record for posterity our East Hampton Stories. Help us save your personal experiences during this uncharted chapter.

How you can participate?

Please send in your images, thoughts, letters…anything that you think will be important for us to add to our collection during this episode in our history. We suggest sending us a “journal entry” of sorts. Your reflection about the last few weeks, and our continued story as it unfolds.

“As I looked around the office on Friday afternoon, I had a sinking feeling that I wouldn’t be back for a while. I called all the partners we had worked with for all of our planned programs for the Waterways exhibition and told them we needed to postpone – lectures, readings, docent tours, school visits – all put on hold. I walked down to Clinton Academy to hang a sign on the door of letting people know the exhibition would be closed for an indefinite amount of time as well. I passed a woman walking her dog – she was wearing a mask. It seemed odd at the time, but now is so commonplace to see, a mere week later…”
