East End Arts Announces Appointment of

Jim Lennon, Ellen Darion, and Glynis Berry to its Board of Directors

RIVERHEAD, N.Y. — East End Arts & Humanities Council (EEAC), a nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching and connecting communities across Eastern Long Island through arts education, exhibitions and cultural programming since 1972, announces the appointment of Jim Lennon, Ellen Darion, and Glynis Berry to its Board of Directors to serve alongside current members Frank Lentini (President), Andy Tarshis (Vice President), Lisa Quinn (Treasurer), Robert Ward (Secretary), and Laurie Lauterbach.

Lennon is an award-winning commercial photographer, educator, and nonprofit leader. He has taught at institutions including Adelphi University and Stony Brook University, Jim recently served as board president of Long Island Cares (The Harry Chapin Food Bank) and as board president of East End Arts approximately a decade ago.

Darion is a writer, editor, and educator with experience across academic and literary publishing, including work with Bedford/St. Martin’s, Pearson Education and Houghton Mifflin. She has developed widely used educational materials and worked extensively in writing instruction and content development.

Berry is an architect, planner, and arts advocate based on the North Fork. She co-founded the firm studio a/b architects and has led projects across architecture, community planning and environmental design, with a focus on sustainability. A LEED Accredited Professional, she also directed the nonprofit Peconic Green Growth and founded Art Sites, a contemporary gallery in Riverhead.

“Jim, Ellen, and Glynis bring a strong combination of artistic, educational, and local leadership experience that aligns with East End Arts’ trajectory,” said Board President Frank Lentini. “As we continue to expand our programming, partnerships, and public engagement, their perspectives will help us strengthen our impact and ensure we are well positioned to continue serving our East End community.”

Lennon said: “East End Arts has played an important role in my life and in this community for many years. I’m honored to return to the board and support its continued work connecting artists with the community.”

Darion said: “I’ve spent my career working with writers, educators and creators, and I believe strongly in the role the arts play in shaping how we think and connect. I’m excited to support East End Arts and its mission to foster creativity and community across the region.”

Berry said: “I’m honored to join the East End Arts board and look forward to supporting its work to strengthen connections between the arts, the environment, and the broader community.”

The appointments came as East End Arts Council prepared to host its 30th annual MOSAIC Festival which took place Sunday, May 31, in Riverhead and as it prepares for its 7th annual DETOUR summer art exhibition opening June 13 in its two Downtown gallery spaces and its 24th annual Teeny Awards ceremony on June 14 at Westhampton Beach High School. Its annual Summer Soiree fundraising benefit is slated for August 29 at Strongs Marina in Mattituck.
