As we welcome the new year, I am excited to share what is on the horizon at Glenstone.
Last Looks: Ellsworth Kelly at 100
This past spring, we opened Ellsworth Kelly at 100, a centennial celebration of the life and career of the beloved American artist, and our most ambitious exhibition to date. With over 95,000 visitors in 2023, the exhibition will soon travel to Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris where it will be on view May through September 2024. Next, it will travel to M7 in Doha, marking the first presentation of Kelly’s work in the Gulf region.
I am pleased to share the last video in our Ellsworth Kelly at 100 series, and I invite you to visit the exhibition before it closes to experience seven decades of Kelly’s groundbreaking work. On February 1, we will release visits through March 17, when Ellsworth Kelly at 100 closes. We hope you’ll join us during the final days of this captivating show.
Coming Soon
Stay tuned for news of expanded program offerings, including more daily Nature Walks, monthly curatorial talks, guided sketching, and a behind-the-scenes look at the spring planting for Jeff Koons’s Split Rocker. Longer days will bring even more access to Glenstone, as we stay open until 8 pm on Fridays and Saturdays between May and September for Glenstone Summer Evenings.
Expect exciting new additions to Glenstone’s outdoor sculpture program, including As Long as the Sun Lasts, 2021 by Alex Da Corte, which will be on view overlooking the Gallery pond beginning February 15. This spring, Simone Leigh’s monumental sculpture Satellite, 2022 will be installed along the Woodland Trail and this summer, we will offer a special outdoor presentation of sculptures by Charles Ray, the fifth in a series of rotating installations of Ray’s work at Glenstone since 2018.
Operating Changes for 2024
Beginning in mid-March through early 2025, the Pavilions building will close temporarily for renovations.
During this time, we will offer two kinds of timed entry tickets to maintain the serene and contemplative atmosphere that is the hallmark of Glenstone’s visitor experience. Glenstone Admission will include access primarily to the grounds, dining, Bookstore, and Arrival Hall. There will be an additional option to schedule timed entry tickets including access to the Gallery building featuring Iconoclasts: Selections from Glenstone’s Collection.
