NEW COLLECTION EXHIBITIONS | Across the Avenues: Fairfield Porter in New York and Beyond the Horizon: Interpretations of the Landscape from Women in the Permanent Collection

Two exhibitions showcasing the Parrish’s permanent collection will open this Sunday, February 18. Comprised of 27 paintings and prints from the Museum’s vast Porter collection, Across the Avenues focuses on the cityscapes Porter created of Manhattan between the mid-1940s and mid-1970s. Spanning mural-sized representational oil paintings, expressionistic watercolors and pastel drawings, and intimate mixed-media abstractions, Beyond the Horizon will take viewers on a journey through visual styles and thematic experiences of the landscape featuring women artists from the permanent collection.

Join us this Friday for a screening of Max Roach: The Drum Also Waltzes, in celebration of Black History Month and collaboration with Hamptons Doc Fest. The film delves into the life and music of the legendary drummer, composer, bandleader, and social activist through a remarkable series of creative peaks, struggles, and personal reinventions. UPCOMING | Simón Vega: Tropical Space Castaways

For his upcoming exhibition at the Parrish, Salvadoran artist Simón Vega will present works created from repurposed items and recycled materials, as well as a photography series documenting his largest sculpture to date, Palm 3 World Station. The artist will also create a rover with found materials from the Museum’s surrounding area.

BLACK HISTORY MONTH HIGHLIGHT | Hughie Lee-Smith
