April 3, 2019 — Parrish Art Museum Director Terrie Sultan is pleased to announce a new partnership with Bank of America for support of year-round public programs. As Presenting Sponsor of the Museum’s Friday Night programs, Bank of America is helping the Parrish expand its community engagement. From live music, theater, and films to special events, talks and symposia, Friday Nights present opportunities to further explore the arts.

“Friday Nights at the Parrish gives the Museum weekly opportunities to experiment and be creative in developing adult and family friendly programs and events over a wide range of approaches to provide unique experiences and engagement to our community,” Director Terrie Sultan noted. “The members of the team—Corinne Erni, Senior Curator of ArtsReach and Special Projects; Alicia Longwell, The Lewis B. and Dorothy Cullman Chief Curator; Jennifer Duque, Head of Museum Experiences; Cara Conklin Wingfield, Education Director; and Jillian Bock, Assistant Director of Education—generate amazing programs that we are excited to present, thanks to the generous support of Bank of America.”

Friday Night programs provide an opportunity for audiences to engage with world-class artists and performers, great minds in myriad disciplines, and interactive community events and symposia on important current topics such as climate change, culture, and identity. The series illuminates and enriches the experience of the Museum’s critically acclaimed Permanent Collection installations and special exhibitions that present established artists. These well attended programs continue to attract new audiences and engage diverse communities of the region and beyond. Highlights include: Inter-Sections: The Architect in Conversation, which pairs architects with experts from other disciplines—art, environment, landscape, and urban planning—to discuss pressing design issues; The Artist’s Lens, a documentary series on influential artists; PechaKucha, an informal gathering four times a year that uses a simple presentation format for creative people to share their ideas, works, and thoughts.

The Museum continues to create partnerships that expand its community and ability to present ever more meaningful programs. These partners include Hamptons Doc Fest, Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival, and Organización Latino–Americana (OLA); as well asrelationships with Fashion Institute of Technology, Brookhaven National Lab, New York African Film Festival, and Dia Art Foundation, hosting screenings, book signings, and conversations with renowned filmmakers, artists, and authors. The Museum’s collaboration with OLA, now in its 15th year, includes an annual Spanish-language film festival with tours that attract a large Latinx audience. Enthusiastic concertgoers support Salon Series recitals, featuring world class musicians, as well as live outdoor music—a recent evening highlighting West African music and films saw record attendance by young music lovers. Artist to Artist talks by renowned artists on exhibitions and The Curator’s Viewcontinue to confirm the community’s interest in engaging with art and artists.

Highlights for upcoming Friday Night programs include an Inter-Sections film screening on April 5; a talk and book signing with author David Kastan on April 12; a short film program with emerging artists and filmmakers on technology’s impact on society (a collaboration with Sag Harbor Cinema) on April 19; and a talk and book signing with photographer Renate Aller on May 24.
