Extra hands are needed for our annual seeding workshop! Please help the farm get a head start on this year’s eggplants and many beautiful varieties of peppers. You’ll work side by side with Farm Director Layton Guenther and Farm Manager Madi Aldrich to plant these seeds in the trays destined for the greenhouse. In addition, learn about the importance of making and using compost. All participants are invited to return on May 18 to transplant the seedlings into the fields of the Farm.
Free! Rain or shine. Please park on Deep Lane, reached via Town Lane or Side Hill Lane, and meet us at the farm’s greenhouse.

Meet at Jacob’s Farm trailhead on Red Dirt Road, Amagansett

Join us for a trail hike of about 5 miles through the woods of Jacob’s Farm to check out parts of three Trust preserves: Red Dirt Preserve, Silver Beech Preserve, and High Point Preserve. You’ll reach an elevation of a little more than 150 feet above mean sea level and enjoy a water view through the trees! This 5-mile woodland walk will be moderately paced and will include hills. Bring tick protection, snacks and your water bottle.
$5/person suggested donation. Space is limited, reservations required. Rain cancels.
This hike is in partnership with the East Hampton Trails Preservation Society.

The symposium features an evening poster session and networking event at the Scully Estate in Islip, a day of presentations at Hofstra University, and concludes with workshops at the Sisters of St. Joseph in Brentwood. Topics include native plants, invasive species management strategies, land restoration, and more. The symposium is hosted by the LI Invasive Species Management Area (LIISMA) and LI Native Plant Initiative (LINPI).
