Education Coordinator Joyce Raimondo will present cultural constructs that form our ideas about nature, as seen through the eyes of Jackson Pollock, Lee Krasner, and other artists. Tour their spectacular outdoor property and barn studio live on Zoom. Then Daneris Ortega Lara, our Stony Brook University intern, will present contemporary artists such as Ai Weiwei, Mel Chin, and others who respond to nature and address our current climate crisis in their work.

JACKSON POLLOCK’S MURAL REVEALED
A virtual trip to the Stanley Museum of Art, University of Iowa

Education Coordinator Joyce Raimondo will present Pollock and Krasner’s mural projects, followed by a live virtual tour of their studio. Then Kimberly Musial Datchuk , Curator of Learning & Engagement, Stanley Museum of Art, will present the story behind Pollock’s 1943 Mural, which is in the museum’s permanent collection. The mythology around Mural has become almost as famous as the painting itself. How true are the tales, and how did Mural end up in Iowa? Learn more about the history of this fascinating painting as it prepares to return to the Stanley Museum of Art after an international tour.
