Pollock-Krasner House & Study Center: Message from Eugene V. and Clare E. Thaw Director, Helen A. Harrison

As I prepare to retire after thirty-four years’ stewardship of the Pollock-Krasner House and Study Center, I’m reflecting on my good fortune to have been entrusted with such a treasure. Not only is the National Historic Landmark a place of pilgrimage for people who appreciate the germinal roles Pollock and Krasner played in American art’s ascendance to global prominence, but it continues to inspire artists working in a wide variety of genres, weaving past and present into a strong web of creative continuity.

To those who have labored by my side during my decades at the helm and continue to be the backbone of this venture, I offer my sincere gratitude. It has been a privilege to work with our staff, volunteers, and interns, as well as the scores of speakers, guest curators, advisors, donors, Pollock and Krasner family members and Stony Brook University colleagues who have contributed their time and expertise toward enabling the Pollock-Krasner House and Study Center to fulfill its promise. I leave it, still a work in progress, in their capable hands.
