Community Quilt Project January 12 to January 29, 2024
Join us for a unique and collaborative experience—the creation of our very own community quilt inspired by a historic example from our collection created and signed by community members during the 1860s.
This project is part of a series of community programs in support of the Smithsonian traveling exhibition, Voices and Votes: Democracy in America, opening at our Exhibition Gallery in March 2024 (more details about the Exhibition coming soon)!
Once complete, this new community quilt will be featured in the upcoming exhibition and will also be added to Preservation Long Island’s collection of art and artifacts.
Panel Discussion Hosted by Greenport Floyd Memorial Library

The Floyd Memorial Library in Greenport will host a panel discussion on the subject of historic preservation on the East End. Guest panelists include our Preservation and Advocacy Director, Tara Cubie, Maziar Behrooz, founding architect of mb_architecture, and the artist Sabina Streeter. The panel will be moderated by Greenport Mayor Kevin Stuessi.
The event is a community program for their current exhibition — Port + Harbor: Preservation, Not Speculation by Sabina Streeter on view through February 4th. As well as discussing the East End’s architectural heritage, the panel will consider the place of new development in the villages of Greenport, Sag Harbor, and beyond.
There will be time for public comment, so please bring any questions or suggestions you might have on this important topic.This is a free event – No registration required.
