Hike up to the ecologically rare Dwarf Pines in the Northern part of the Refuge. Round trip hike is approximately 3 miles and is on relatively flat terrain. Learn about the various types of local flora and fauna, fire ecology, forest layers, decomposition, succession, and habitat protection!
Celebrate the full moon with a nighttime hike through the forest up to North Pond as we look and listen for nocturnal creatures, and enjoy some night vision activities under the light of the moon.
Reservations required at least 24 hours in advance; payment required at time of reservation. A program for adults and families with children over 11. $10/members, $20/non-members.

Follow your guide to meet whimsical, fun, and educational characters on the forest trails. Come and join the fun! Everyone is welcome to wear costumes. Activities and games will be available. For children ages 2 to 7 with an adult. Reservations required, call to reserve an arrival time. $15.00 fee per person.

Join us in the nature center for an excellent presentation all about bats, including their anatomy and amazing physical adaptations, various lifestyles of bats from all over the world — including Long Island — and their ecological importance to the planet. You will also learn about the conflicts bats are facing and how you can help. Receive a bat sticker given if you bring someone along who doesn’t (yet) love bats! A program for adults and families. $5.00 per person.
