This just in to the Shelter Island History Center – a unique piece by local artist Dale Clark that celebrates one of our island’s signature features – the Shelter Island ferries. It’s a subject Dale knows well, as a member of the Clark family, owners and operators of the South Ferry.
At over five feet tall, this one-of-a-kind Totem Pole rotates on a revolving pedestal to showcase the hand-crafted artwork on all four sides. It’s currently on display at the Center – BUT it will be auctioned off to the highest bidder following the final performance of our annual musical, “A Deck of Ferry Tales,” a week from this Sunday. Submit your bids (minimum is $3000) in person at the History Center. All proceeds will go to support “A Deck of Ferry Tales.”
And don’t forget to book your passage to “A Deck Of Ferry Tales, which starts next week! Performances are Thursday, July 18 through Sunday, July 21 at 6pm nightly. Purchase tickets in person when you stop by during our opening hours to view the Totem Pole and submit your bid. They are also available at the Havens Farmers’ Market on Saturdays from 9am to 12:30pm, or online anytime at https://shelterislandhistorical.networkforgood.com/events/71001-2024-musical-a-deck-of-ferry-tales.
See you there!
