The countdown to our Oysters ‘R’ Here celebration

Saturday, September 28, has begun!

So get ready to slurp down your fill of local oysters (from Alice’s Fish Market), charcuterie (thank you King Andrew Cheese), beer (Shelter Island Brewery) and wine (Croteaux, Pellegrini, Old Field and Lenz). That’s not all. You’ll also take home a gift certificate for a complimentary cocktail at the Pridwin Hotel, as well as a commemorative glass.

Oh, and you can bid on terrific silent auctions, including a 10 day stay in a quaint country farmhouse in Umbria, Italy! There’s also a raffle, live music – and let’s not forget that you can get a photo with Oscar the Oyster, mascot of the original Shelter Island Oyster Company and a symbol of some of the best oysters on the East End! And while you’re here, make sure to take in our newest exhibit, Heads and Hats, which offers a look into Shelter Island’s past via some of our residents’ headwear. Included are a feathered chapeau from a member of the Tuthill family, a top hat from local artist Rodman Pell, as well as a vintage Heights Fire Association cap and WW1 helmet. Stop in to view the display during our opening hours and enjoy this bit of Shelter Island’s history!
