NYSCA Funds Southampton History Museum’s Diversity Training
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Southampton History Museum is proud to announce that the New York State Council on the Arts/Museum Association of New York (NYSCA/MANY) Partnership Grants for Capacity Building has awarded $5,000 to fund diversity training from the National Coalition Building Institute (NCBI). Erica Sanger, Executive Director of the Museum Association of New York (MANY), who made the announcement on May 17, 2022, says “this was a very competitive grant process; only 57% of the applicants were awarded funding.”
The National Coalition Building Institute (NCBI), an international leadership organization that provides training in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in community organizations, K-12 schools, college and university campuses, corporations and law enforcement will lead the training workshops. The work of NCBI — its mission, its workshops and training, its network of resource teams, and its contribution to long-lasting institutional and social change — is guided by several core principles and key insights. These principles and insights provide a useful overview. Participants in the training will be members of the museum board of trustees, staff and volunteers.
The Museum is very grateful to Ms. Sanger as well as NYSCA’s Executive Director Mara Manus, NYS Senator Anthony Palumbo, NYS Legislator Fred Theile and for making this award possible.
