MTA AWAY Promotion Highlights Our Passport Program

————————————

This July, we are excited to be collaborating with the MTA and Long Island Rail Road to promote our passport program, which provides visitors entry to both the Maple Lane Complex and the Nautical Museum at Horton Point Lighthouse for one price.

The program encourages visitors to visit by using the Long Island Rail Road for transportation. The 15 second video ads, which highlight both our properties, can be seen on Long Island Rail Road station platforms, including Penn Station.See the promotion details below.

Would You Consider Volunteering at the Maple Lane Complex?

——————

We are in need of docents (guides) at our Maple Lane Complex and hope you will consider sharing your talents with us this summer. Prospective docents considering volunteering are welcome to come and shadow our current volunteers. Docents make it possible for visitors to enjoy our historic buildings and sites. You can volunteer as little or as much as you want. Call us at 631-765-5500 or find out more at:

Thanks to all who Attended Our Special Panel Discussion

——————

We had a full house in the barn for our recently opened This Land is Made for You and Me exhibit, when Dr. Georgette Grier-Key, executive director/chief curator at Eastville Community Historical Society, Brenda Simmons, founder of Southampton African American Museum, and Richard (Junie) Wingfield held a special panel discussion examining life in the farm labor camps in Southold.

Attendees were entranced by the poignant images and stories that shed light on this part of history. We are so thankful to all our panelists, especially Dr. Georgette Grier-Key, who personally curated the exhibit, which will be on display weekends through Sept. 15.

The online exhibit and sale will be July 15 – August 31, 2024.

We can’t wait to show you all the beautiful pieces of local art we received. Everyone is invited to view the artists’ work, and you may consider a purchase if you choose. Proceeds benefit local artists and the Museum.
