The Arts Center at Duck Creek (https://www.duckcreekarts.org/) will bring the 2026 Music Series to a close with the Caracas Trio. The concert will be held on Thursday, September 3 from 6 to 8 p.m. featuring Juan Diego Villalobos on Vibraphone, Gabriel Chakarji on Piano, and Daniel Prim on Drums, with special guest Yilmer Vivas on Percussion.
Caracas Trio is a New York-based Venezuelan ensemble made up of three musicians who grew up in the same neighborhood in Caracas before finding their way into New York City’s modern jazz scene. Their music is rooted in the Afro-Venezuelan rhythms and melodic improvisation at the heart of Venezuelan folk tradition, shaped by the energy and community of the city they now call home.
“The three of us were in touch with music at an early age in our lives, and eventually we created the trio with the concept of combining modern jazz world music sounds with our culture and our folkloric heritage. A little bit of our creative process is about mixing original composition with the folkloric festivity in Venezuela,” says Juan Diego Villalobos.
The trio’s distinctive instrumentation — keyboards, vibraphone, and drums, with shared vocals, percussion, and original compositions from all three members — allows them to weave together intricate rhythms and melodies that are at once deeply traditional and thoroughly contemporary. The result is a sound that is celebratory, inventive, and unlike anything else on the scene.
The Arts Center at Duck Creek is a dynamic hub for contemporary art and cultural exchange on Long Island’s East End. Set on a historic property in Springs, New York, the center champions innovative artistic practices through a diverse program of exhibitions, performances, and interdisciplinary events. By bringing together leading and emerging voices across disciplines, Duck Creek fosters dialogue, experimentation, and community engagement in a uniquely inspiring natural and architectural setting.
