Bay Street Theater & Sag Harbor Center for the Arts is delighted to announce THE WIZARD OF OZ: Youth Edition, a one-hour adaptation of The Wizard of Oz, specially tailored for elementary and middle school-aged actors ages 7-14, has been added to this season’s fun fall slate of workshops. The show, directed by the incomparable Bethany Dellapolla, will feature all of the favorite characters from the beloved MGM film classic: Dorothy, The Scarecrow, The Tin Man, The Cowardly Lion, and, of course, the Wizard, among others! Flexible casting! The materials have been prepared to help Bay Street mount the best possible production and to give the young cast an exciting and rewarding experience!

Bethany is thrilled to be back at Bay Street! She is an actress herself, who also teaches, choreographs, and directs various theater camps, productions, and classes throughout the island and Manhattan (ages 3 to adult). Teaching and coaching credits include: Broadway Dance Center (Children/Teen – Triple Threat Program), Gateway Playhouse (Acting Faculty/Director/Choreographer), Pierson Middle-High School (Resident Director/Choreographer), TADA! Youth Theatre (Director/Choreographer), Westhampton Beach PAC (Choreographer), and NexGen Youth Theatre, her own youth theatre company based in NYC (www.nexgentheatre.com). She has been fortunate to direct and/or choreograph many shows for children and adults as well, such as Cinderella, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Into the Woods, The Little Mermaid, Rent, The Prom, Company, The Drowsy Chaperone, The Wedding Singer, Spring Awakening, Cabaret, Anything Goes, Seussical, Beauty and the Beast Jr, Willy Wonka, 13!, Fame, Zombie Prom, and The World Goes ‘Round. As an actress, Bethany has performed in everything from independent film, to radio and theatre, what she considers her home. Favorite Credits include: Mrs. Potts in Beauty and the Beast (BroadwayWorld.com nomination – Best Actress in a Musical), Steph in Reasons to Be Pretty (Broadwayworld.com nomination – Best Actress in a Play), and the Fairy Godmother in a touring production of Cinderella.
