GUILD HALL THEATER TO REOPEN THIS JULY!

Schedule of Summer Events to Celebrate Guild Hall’s Theater Re-opening

*********************************************

Guild Hall is thrilled to announce the completion of the two-year capital improvements project this summer with the reopening of the theater in July, with the galleries, classrooms, offices, and grounds having reopened to the public last summer. The renovation of the theater was a collaboration with Peter Pennoyer Architects and theatrical consultants Apeiro Design. The renovation of Guild Hall’s1931 facility has been a labor of love involving hundreds of individuals, from their building team to their donors. The theater’s enhancements include wider, more comfortable seats with greater row-to-row depth, a steeper rake for improved sightlines, a new flexible social space at the rear of the theater, an audio lift system for acoustically superior sound suitable for every art form from symphonies to cinema, advanced lighting, video systems, a remote-controlled camera system for live streaming and recording, a relocated control booth, and new lighting positions in the balcony.

To celebrate the reopening of the theater, Guild Hall will host a benefit concert with Emmy and Tony Award-winning actor/singer, Billy Porter, on Friday, July 12 at 8 PM. Guests are encouraged to dress up in their most festive attire and walk the red carpet. Benefit-level tickets include a post-concert cocktail reception where Porter will be in attendance.

The full season includes a wide variety of exhibitions, talks, performances, and more throughout the summer, with a diverse lineup of programs in the theater to demonstrate the extensive technical improvements. To purchase tickets and for a full schedule of events with details, please visit www.guildhall.org. A highlighted schedule of events, subject to change, is as follows:

GUILD HALL

Guild Hall is the cultural heart of the East End: a museum, performing arts, and education center, founded in 1931. We invite everyone to experience the endless possibilities of the arts: to open minds to what art can be; inspire creativity and conversation; and have fun.

Guild Hall has served four generations and introduced audiences to the most storied artists and performers of our time. As they approach their centennial, they are near the completion of a state-of-the-art renovation to match the caliber of their artistry for twenty-first-century audiences. The facility-wide Capital Improvements Project & Campaign includes top-of-the-line physical and technological enhancements to better deliver on their mission as an artist-driven, interdisciplinary institution.
