News from the Farm – September

—————————–

Dear Friend,

Fall is here, and we are busier than ever at Hallockville! As the season changes we have a full calendar of programs, events, and activities to share with our community.

We are especially excited to welcome Marianne Della Croce as our new Executive Director. We look forward to all that she will bring to Hallockville as we continue to grow our programs and preserve the history and agricultural traditions of the North Fork.

There are lots of exciting things happening both on and off the Farm this fall. From workshops and special events to our annual Country Fair and other community programs, there are plenty of opportunities to visit, learn something new, and enjoy the Farm.

Meet Our New Executive Director

———————–

Marianne Della Croce is an arts and nonprofit leader with a background in education, cultural programming, operations, and community engagement. She joins Hallockville from the Art League of Long Island, where she served in a leadership role overseeing day-to-day operations while working across education, exhibitions, public programs, partnerships, grants, and community initiatives. During her time at the ALLI, she developed new programs, built partnerships with schools and community organizations, managed events, and worked to find new ways to grow and strengthen the organization.

Marianne has also worked with historical societies and other cultural organizations across Long Island, giving her a deep appreciation for the importance of preserving local history and making it meaningful to the people who live here. Her background in both the arts and history has shaped her belief that museums and cultural organizations should be places where people can learn, connect, and feel a sense of belonging.

Marianne is excited to be joining Hallockville Museum Farm and to learn more about the organization, its history, and the people who have helped make it what it is today. She is looking forward to working with the staff, board, volunteers, members, and community to build on Hallockville’s work and explore new opportunities for programming and engagement. Most of all, she is looking forward to meeting everyone and becoming part of the Hallockville community.

What is Happening in The Hudson-Sydlowski House?

————————-

Hallockville has been experiencing ongoing problems with the well at the Hudson-Sydlowski House. From monthly water testing and leaky check valves to a pump failure, maintaining the well has presented a number of challenges and made it increasingly difficult to ensure reliable water service for the building.

Thanks to a very generous donation from the Levin Family Foundation, we are now able to connect the Hudson-Sydlowski House to town water. This important improvement will provide a reliable water supply and allow us to continue using the Hudson House for educational programs, weekend workshops, and everyday public use.

We are incredibly grateful to the Levin Family Foundation for supporting this project and helping us continue to fulfill our mission. Their generosity will help ensure that Hallockville can continue opening its doors to the community, both near and far, for years to come.

Thank you to the Levin Family Foundation for helping make this possible!

We hope you will join us this fall and find an event that interests you. We look forward to seeing

you at Hallockville!

All the best,

Lillian Cowburn
