This week, two new exhibitions are on view at ICP: I’m So Happy You Are Here: Japanese Women Photographers from the 1950s to Now and Laia Abril: On Rape and Institutional Failure. ————————- These two exhibitions look at histories that have long gone untold. Through expansive use of photography as a tool of both memorializing and reframing, they present a wide range of practices and subject matters, from personal reflections to socially and politically minded bodies of work. Thank you to our community of members who helped us celebrate the opening of these exhibitions last week! Not a member? Yuki Tawada: Water Fire |
|
Yuki Tawada is an artist who radically expands the possibilities of photographic expression by challenging the photograph as a physical object through processes such as scraping and burning. Yuki Tawada: Water Fire is the first mid-career retrospective of Tawada’s work, bringing together, series by series, nearly twenty years of her practice, from her earliest works to her most recent projects. |
