LIAA Can Help You Navigate NYSCA FY2027 Opportunities

Fiscal sponsorship, training, and support for Long Island applicants

The New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) has opened its FY2027 funding cycle, with a hard deadline of Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at 5:00 PM ET. You can find guidelines and recorded webinars for all opportunities on the NYSCA Opportunity Guidelines page.

Long Island Arts Alliance is supporting Long Island artists and organizations through this cycle in two ways:

  1. Fiscal sponsorship for individual artists and sponsored projects applying to NYSCA
  2. The LI Grants Academy, free training and support for artists, sponsored projects, and 501(c)(3) organizations preparing applications

Read on to find the track that fits you.

Track 1 · Fiscal Sponsorship Through LIAA
LIAA serves as a fiscal sponsor for the following NYSCA FY2027 programs:

  • Support for Artists — $10,000 in direct support to individual artists for the creation of new work
  • Support for Sponsored Organizations — for groups operating without their own 501(c)(3) status

As your fiscal sponsor, LIAA:

  • Submits your application to NYSCA on your behalf
  • Provides administrative oversight throughout the grant period
  • Handles required grant reporting for funded projects
Our fee: 5% of award, deducted only if your application is funded. If not funded, no fee. Please note: Because NYSCA rules limit the number of applications LIAA can sponsor, we may not be able to accommodate every request.

Eligible disciplines for Support for Artists: Choreographer Commissions · Composer Compositions · Film, Media, and New Technology · Folk and Traditional Arts · Interdisciplinary · Literature · Theater Commissions · Visual Arts

“If it wasn’t for LIAA I never would have even thought to apply for a NYSCA grant. I thought grants like those were meant for ‘other artists,’ and the opportunity wasn’t even on my radar. Talking to LIAA in the initial round of the process helped me feel validated and gave me the confidence I needed to move forward with my application. I have been exhibiting and selling my work for the past twenty years and this is my first major award. It feels so good. The funding is amazingly liberating but even more so is the change in my mindset.”

Track 2 · The LI Grants Academy
LI Grants Academy logo
The LI Grants Academy is free training and support for Long Island artists and arts organizations preparing NYSCA applications.

The Academy is open to:

  • Individual artists applying for Support for Artists
  • Sponsored projects and collectives applying for Support for Sponsored Organizations
  • 501(c)(3) arts organizations applying for Support for Organizations
One note on fiscal sponsorship: LIAA serves as a fiscal sponsor for Support for Artists and Support for Sponsored Organizations only. 501(c)(3) organizations apply directly to NYSCA without a fiscal sponsor, though the Academy can still help you build a stronger application. Because NYSCA rules limit the number of applications we can sponsor, we may not be able to accommodate every request.
