As the season begins to wind down, we’d love to gather once more at Madoo. Due to unsafe weather conditions, our originally scheduled September gathering has been rescheduled for
Saturday, October 10, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.

We’re so grateful to all of our donors and members who make Madoo possible, and we hope you’ll join us for a casual pour and an evening in the gardens. If you aren’t sure of your membership status, please email us at info@madoo.org.

Ross Bleckner

The Madoo Conservancy is pleased to present Ross Bleckner: Mind of My Body, an exhibition of works on paper by internationally acclaimed artist Ross Bleckner, open through October 12, 2026. The exhibition offers an intimate perspective on an artist whose work has explored memory, loss, transformation, and the human experience throughout his career. This series is distinguished by Bleckner’s focused exploration of light, with luminous forms and delicate imagery emerging against black paper.

The presentation coincides with Ross Bleckner: Never the Less at Guild Hall, providing audiences with an opportunity to encounter two distinct aspects of Bleckner’s practice in East Hampton this summer. Together, the exhibitions offer complementary perspectives on his approach to image-making, material, and process.

Bleckner emerged as a prominent figure in New York during the 1980s, developing a body of work shaped in part by the profound social and cultural changes of the period, particularly the AIDS crisis. His paintings explore the fragile relationship between presence and absence, often transforming recurring imagery through abstraction, repetition, light, and gesture. His works on paper offer a more intimate view of this process, revealing his experimentation with line, color, and imagery while continuing his investigation of the body, the natural world, and the passage of time.
