Honoring Our Volunteers

Volunteers gathered at the Manor House alongside our Mashomack team to celebrate all they helped accomplish over the past year. Ninety-five volunteers contributed more than 3,100 hours to Mashomack, supporting nearly every aspect of preserve work, from prescribed fire and trail stewardship to invasive species removal, Visitor Center staffing, events and more.

We couldn’t do this work without our volunteers. If you’d like to join this amazing team, please email MashomackPreserve@tnc.org with “Volunteer” in the subject line.

A special thank you to everyone who volunteered last month. They helped tackle invasive mile-a-minute vine (Persicaria perfoliata) around the Visitor Center, meadow and roadway, making a visible difference for Mashomack habitats.

Celebrating 75 Years

This year, The Nature Conservancy is celebrating 75 years of helping to create a future with a livable climate, healthy communities and thriving nature. The story begins at a place you can still visit today: Mianus River Gorge in New York.

In 1955, community members, scientists and conservationists came together to protect this remarkable landscape, making it The Nature Conservancy’s first land acquisition project and first preserve.
