A Letter from the Director
Dear Friends,
As 2024 comes to a close, I would like to take a moment for both reflection and anticipation.
Over the past year, the Pollock-Krasner House welcomed thousands of visitors to our physical property for tours and workshops. Hundreds-of-thousands more engaged with us on our digital platforms. We kicked off a contemporary exhibition series, established two artist residency programs for both painting and music, launched a new website, and started an in-house podcast.
We were fortunate to collaborate with great partners such as the Pollock-Krasner Foundation, the Kasmin Gallery, Stony Brook Southampton, the Stony Brook University Department of Art, the Elaine de Kooning House, Springs Brewery, and more.
In 2025, we look forward to hosting exhibitions featuring work by the likes of Elaine de Kooning, Rosalyn Drexler, Frank O’Hara, and Larry Rivers, as well as the culmination of the residencies of artists Marie-Claire Chabauty and Emily Hopkins.
Lee Krasner once said: “I think all painting is biographical…you can read any artist if you take the trouble to.”
The stories of great artists can be told in many ways. Here at the PK House, we aspire to channel the inspirational creativity of our namesakes through a diversity of lenses and perspectives. We are able to tell our story thanks to the passion and generosity of our visitors and supporters. Whether you have been engaging with us for years or have newly acquainted yourself with our mission, I would like to thank you, sincerely, for your interest in and support of our institution. I look forward to seeing you at the house in the near future.
Sincerely,
Dr. Matthew K. Ward
