How can art help you clarify your aspirations for the future? We will begin with an inspirational presentation featuring Pollock, Krasner, and other artists who realized their creative dreams. Then explore the power of clear thought as you envision the world you want to create for yourself and others in a collage vision boarding workshop. Supplies: glue, scissors, magazine pictures, surface for your art. Or make a drawing.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Carol Steinberg is an intellectual property attorney and professor at School of Visual Arts. Carol will describe a law that protects artists’ work and proceeds when their work is in galleries Learn why registration is important in enforcing copyrights. She will also explain important provisions that should be included in an artist’s contract with a gallery.

Renée Vara is a court expert and artist advocate for creative rights with 30 years as a certified appraiser, advisor, and educator to manage collections for foundations, studios, and private collectors. Her firm provides advice and expertise to top 200 collectors and artists’ studios. Renée will present ways artists can manage their studios, art, and consignments along with tips for pricing, insurance, and other business know-how.

Anyone Can Draw!

Thursday, April 3, 2:00pm – 3:00pm (EDT)

Have you ever said, “I can’t draw a straight line?”. For anyone who enjoys drawing, this workshop will show you simple techniques to improve your observational drawing skills. In this relaxed session, we will learn contour drawing skills guaranteed to improve your drawing in one hour! Supplies; mirror, three sheets of paper, pencil, sharpener, eraser.
