NEW EXHIBITION | The Art of Food: From the Collections of Jordan D. Schnitzer and His Family Foundation
APRIL 21–JUNE 30, 2024
The Parrish presents The Art of Food, an exhibition focusing on food as an essential cultural component that builds communities and fortifies human relationships. More than one hundred drawings, paintings, photographs, sculptures, and ceramics by thirty-seven artists from the Jordan Schnitzer Foundation will be exhibited, including major postwar artists David Hockney, Jasper Johns, Robert Rauschenberg, Ed Ruscha, and Andy Warhol; contemporary artists Enrique Chagoya, Jenny Holzer, Alison Saar, Lorna Simpson, and Rachel Whiteread; and artists with deep roots in the East End such as Robert Gober, Roy Lichtenstein, and Donald Sultan. Museum members are invited to join us during special preview hours to celebrate the exhibition’s opening on Sunday, April 21. Preview includes a reception from 10 AM to 12 PM and a gallery talk with Jordan D. Schnitzer at 11 AM. Advanced registration is required.

ENJOY | Arts & Eats: Color Play
FRIDAY, APRIL 19 at 3 PM
High school students in Grades 9-12 are invited to spend a Friday afternoon at the Museum connecting with art and friends. Collaborate with friends to create a landscape inspired by works in Beyond the Horizon: Interpretations of the Landscape from Women in the Permanent Collection and enjoy free pizza. Free event. TALK | Across the Avenues: Fairfield Porter in New York
FRIDAY, APRIL 19 at 6 PM
Join us for a presentation and talk on Across the Avenues, by Kaitlin Halloran, Assistant Curator and Publications Coordinator. Halloran will discuss Porter’s time spent in Manhattan and the body of work created from the mid-1940s to mid-1970s, capturing New York City’s bustling energy through cityscapes and street scenes in works from the Parrish’s permanent collection. In addition to its many year-round educational programs, the Parrish offers affordable day trips to other museums for students to expand their art experiences beyond the East End and get to know their peers who share a passion for art.
