Of the Earth: Connections, a project by Shane Weeks, opens this Sunday! This new exhibition considers how Indigenous artists from across the world have centered both water and the earth in their practices through storytelling, video, photography, sculpture, and cultural traditions. Multivocal Indigenous viewpoints illustrate environmental stewardship as a locus of kinship and life, mapping a philosophical interrelationship between global Indigenous communities.

Join us for a music and weaving circle inspired by the Fandango, a 400-year-old community tradition from southern Veracruz, Mexico. The Fandango is a celebration of life in community, materialized through the sounds of strings, percussion, and poetry. People gather to play instruments, share land-based stories, or simply observe from afar—together weaving a living tapestry of resistance.

Featuring the collectives: Pulso de Barro and Mazorca Colectiva

Fandango Weaving is presented by Mazorca Colectiva as part of their Indigenous Practice Studio (IPS) Commissioning Program project at the Queens Museum.
