On paper, The Full Monty sounds outrageous: six laid‑off steelworkers in Buffalo decide their best shot at a fresh start is to form a strip act. In performance, it becomes something else entirely. The laughs are big and frequent, the score is irresistible, and the finale one of those “you had to be there” moments that sends people out of the theatre grinning. You come for the comedy and the fun, and somewhere along the way you find yourself rooting hard for six ordinary guys trying to hold onto pride, family, and friendship in a world that has moved on without them.
Adding to all of that, we have Emmy Award‑winner Sally Struthers. She is live on stage, up close, sharp as ever, and very, very funny. If you grew up watching her or have seen her work on stage, you know the kind of warmth and comedic timing she brings into a room. Seeing that in an intimate theatre like The Gateway is a very different experience from seeing it on a screen.
If you’ve been thinking, “We really need an unforgettable night out,” this is the one I’d mark on the calendar. It’s the kind of show that works as a date night, a ladies night, a boy’s night, or a “let’s finally get everyone together” outing: dinner in Bellport Village, then over to the theatre for two and a half hours of big laughs and giant hearts. We’ve scheduled evenings and matinees, with easy parking and no need for a trip into the city, just pick the performance that fits your life.
