The New York Times and is the author of numerous art history books and mystery novels. Participants are invited to join the discussion as we celebrate Helen’s accomplishments and offer good wishes for her new adventures.

Alexander Calder: Art of the Mobile

Discover the mobiles of Alexander Calder — suspended forms that move with the flow of air. Then work alongside Joyce Raimondo to create your own mobile. Have supplies on hand: hanger, sticks, or other items from which to suspend objects, wire or string, materials to hang from your mobile such as paper cut outs, cardboard shapes, shells, or recycled objects. Tools: scissors, or wire cutters if needed.

Feel It: Texture in Art

How did Pollock and Krasner use texture in their art? Explore the use of tactile and visual texture in this paint-collage workshop. Collect textured materials such as sand paper, corrugated paper, fabric, cotton balls etc. and have a stiff board or paper, glue, and scissors along with paint supplies including: red, yellow, blue and white paint; a heavy weight paper, a mixing platform such as a coated paper plate, paint brushes, water, cups
and paper towel on hand.

Perspective Drawing

Perspective Drawing Architecture, buildings, streets, rooms, and more. How do you create the illusion of depth in a drawing? This workshop will teach you the basics of one and two point perspective drawing that will improve your drawing skills in one session. Supplies: ruler or straight edge, two sheets of paper, pencil, sharpener, eraser.
