Pollock: Poster Child for Democracy

Rugged individualism, freedom of expression, innovation! Discover how Jackson Pollock and the abstract expressionists were supported as symbols of Democracy by the CIA and the US Senate during the cold war. Then create your own painting that expresses what Democracy means to you. Have paint supplies on hand.

Remembering Lee

Celebrate Lee Krasner’s birthday (October 27th) with a recorded tour of Krasner’s home and studio, and a presentation about Lee’s life and work. Special guests; Gail Levin, Author, Lisa DiLiberto, who assisted Lee, and Ann Chwatsky, photographer, will share their recollections of Lee. Next those who knew Lee will be invited to share. Hosted by Joyce Raimondo, Education Coordinator at the Pollock-Krasner House and Study Center.

War and Peace in Modern Art

From Picasso’s Guernica to his Doves of Peace, Joyce Raimondo presents modern artists’ response to war and their visions of peace. Following the presentation, participants are invited to use their creative power to envision peace in a painting or drawing.

Express Yourself! Virtual Tour and Drip Painting

Joyce Raimondo will virtually guide attendees through Jackson Pollock and Lee Krasner’s home and studio – a national landmark in East Hampton, New York. Participants discover creative ways Pollock and Krasner expressed their feelings with paint. Explore the art displayed in their home and the barn studio filled with paint splatters — evidence of their masterpieces. Then work alongside Joyce as she demonstrates how to drip paint to express feelings in art. Supplies: liquid acrylic or tempera paint, cups for paints, popsicle sticks or paint brushes, surface for your art.
