For almost a century (ca. 1760–ca. 1850), three generations of the Dominy family operated workshops in East Hampton and created furniture for the local community.
Join Preservation Long Island and the East Hampton Historical Society for a behind-the-scenes look at the preservation and reconstruction of the Dominy house and workshops of some of Long Island’s most celebrated craftspeople, led by preservationist Bob Hefner.
This special tour will take visitors through the 18th-century woodworking and clock shops, highlight authentic Dominy pieces in the East Hampton Historical Society’s collection, and share details about the site’s recent restoration. After touring the Dominy Shops, we’ll walk to the Hook Windmill, which was built by Nathaniel Dominy V in 1806.
